The Welsh Church is situated in Latrobe Street between Queen and Elizabeth Streets. There has been a Welsh congregation meeting and worshiping in Melbourne since 1852, when many Welsh people came to Victoria during the Gold Rushes. The present church building dates from 1871. Only two Welsh Churches remain in Victoria, forming the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Connexion of Victoria.

Worship Services are held at 11am and 5:30pm every Sunday. Welsh language services are held on the second and last Sunday of each month at 3.00pm. This is the only church in the Pacific Basin still holding regular services in Welsh.
